Digital Wedding Invitations

What a digital wedding invitation really costs in India

By Nilav Ventures. Published . 3 min read.

Quick answer: Price depends on five things: how custom the design is, whether it includes video, how many languages and events it holds, how many revisions you get, and how long it stays online. Ask each vendor for the total in writing, what is excluded, and how long the link will work, because the cheapest quote often leaves things out.

I will say upfront that I sell digital invitations, so weigh this with that in mind. But I would rather you understand the pricing than just trust mine. Most people get quotes that look very different and have no way to tell why.

The five things that move the price

1. How custom the design is. A template where only your names and date change is the cheapest end. A design adjusted to your colours, your family’s customs and your photos takes real design time. A fully bespoke layout is the most expensive.

2. Video and motion. A static page is light. An opening effect or an illustrated scene costs more to design. A short video made from your photos costs more again, and the extras vary by method. If a video is made with AI tools, ask who owns the result, whether your photos are sent to a third party, and whether it can be redone if it misses.

3. Languages and events. One language and one event is a simple page. Tamil and English together, with five events, takes more care to design and proof-read. A language you cannot read yourself needs a native reader to check it, and that is worth paying for.

4. Revisions. Almost every wedding has changes. A venue moves, a name is spelled differently, a grandmother wants a photo added. A cheap quote can mean one revision and a fee for every change after. Ask how many are included, and what counts as one.

5. How long it stays online. Some vendors host for three months, some for a year, some forever on paper but with a catch. Ask for the end date and what happens to your photos after.

Digital versus printed, with a worked example

Here is a hypothetical. Suppose a printed card costs you ₹40 to print and ₹15 to post, and you invite 300 households. That is ₹16,500 before extras. A digital invitation costs the same for 30 guests as for 3,000. These numbers are made up to show the shape, not to quote a price, but the shape is real: printed cost rises with every guest, digital does not.

That does not mean digital replaces paper. Many families send printed cards to elders and a link to everyone else. See digital vs printed wedding invitations.

Questions to ask any vendor

  1. What exactly is included, and what is not?
  2. How many revisions, and what happens after the limit?
  3. How long will the link work, and what happens to my photos?
  4. Who owns the photos and artwork, and can I download them?
  5. Can I see a live sample on my own phone, not a screenshot?
  6. Is the final price in writing before I pay?
  7. If it is a video or AI-made, can I approve every clip?
  8. Is the Tamil, or any other language, proof-read by a native speaker?

Hidden costs to watch for

  • Rush fees when you finalise late.
  • Per-event fees that make a multi-event wedding expensive.
  • Language add-ons for each extra script.
  • Hosting renewals after the first period.
  • Taxes shown separately at the end.

How we do it

We keep two routes. Studio packages are built for you and quoted in writing after you tell us about your celebration, so you see scope, price and delivery date before you pay. The self-serve route lets you publish an invitation yourself at a fixed price. The current numbers and exactly what each route includes and excludes are on the pricing page, and you can ask for a quote if you would like a written comparison for your own wedding.

Quick questions

Why do digital invitation prices vary so much?

A template with your names dropped in is a very different job from a custom design with several events, two languages and a video. Hosting length and revisions also differ.

Is a digital invitation cheaper than a printed one?

Usually, once you have more than a few dozen households, because digital does not cost more for each extra guest. Printed cards cost for each copy and for posting.

What should be in a written quote?

What you get, what you do not, how many changes are included, delivery date, how long it stays online, and the total price including any taxes.

How long should an invitation link stay online?

At least until a few weeks after the wedding, since guests refer back to it. Ask for the end date and what happens to your photos after.
