A wedding invitation website should answer one question quickly: where do I need to be, and when? Add the rest only if it helps guests.
The essentials
- Names and main date. Put these at the very top so guests know they are in the right place.
- Invitation message. One or two sentences in the family’s voice, in the language the guests expect.
- Event timeline. List every ceremony with the day, start time, venue and town. Mention if lunch or dinner follows.
- Venue and directions. Include the full address and a link that opens Google Maps. Add a nearby landmark for guests who ask locals for directions.
- Contact. A phone or WhatsApp button for a family member who can answer questions on the day.
Helpful additions
- Countdown. Adds excitement, and reminds guests to book travel.
- Family introduction or couple story. Keep it short. Two or three paragraphs is plenty.
- Gallery. Ten to twelve good photos. Compress them before uploading so the page stays fast on mobile data.
- Dress code per event. Especially useful for multi-day weddings.
- Stay and travel tips. Nearest railway station, parking, and where relatives can stay.
What to leave out
- Long paragraphs about the venue’s history.
- Auto-playing music. Offer a clear on and off button instead, or skip it.
- Personal phone numbers of people who have not agreed to be listed.
- Anything you would not want forwarded to strangers. An invitation link can be shared on.
Check these before you share
- Read the page on a phone with a slow connection.
- Check every time, date and spelling in both Tamil and English.
- Open the map link and make sure it lands on the right place.
- Ask an elder to read it once.
Languages
If your guests read different languages, show both on the same page rather than sending two links. Our designs use system fonts for Tamil, so there is no large font download.
